According to Wikipedia, a lightyear is the distance light travels in a vacuum (space) in the period of one year. However, the tricky part is, some years have 365 days in them, while others have 366 (the leap year.) Currently, there seems to be no consensus as to the correct length of time. The reference found in Wikipedia was done at 365.25 days (translated to kilometers, that would be 9,460,730,472,580.8 km.)

To measure the large distances in the universe , scientists use a unit of length called the LIGHT YEAR . A LIGHT YEAR is the distance traveled by light in 1 year. Since light travels at 299,792,458 meters per second, it travels a whopping 9.46 trillion km in a year (1 trillion is 1 followed by 12 zeroes).

The distance that light travels, in a vacuum, in 365.25 days.

But the "light-year" is not really an official distance. It's okay for newspapers and popular science articles, but not for scientific papers.

Astronomers use "parsecs", the distance at which 1 au subtends an angle of 1 second of arc.

1 au = 149.598 x10^9 m, about the average distance from Earth to the Sun

For Eclectic wicca you have to believe in the goddess and the god, follow the wiccan rede and the festivals and general ritual structure of wicca. Some would add more conditions to that, but that's eclectic wicca at its most basic - and even then, it's debatable as to whether you should call it wicca, as many traditionals (such as Kristin) will tell you. As for being a pastafarian wiccan, you can be that just about as much as you can be a pastafarian muslim - not at all. Wicca is a religion. If you don't believe in the religious side of it, you're not wiccan - you're practicing magic in a form based off of wicca. So you can be a pastafarian witch, but NOT a pastafarian wiccan. You can, however, be wiccan and decide to use the giant flying spaghetti monster as a patron deity - so long as you still acknowledge the goddess and god.

One side real year of time that it would take to travel one lyr unit of distance for a particle of light moving at the velocity of light.
So a light- year is a unit of distance. It makes it easier to describe astronomical distances of the Universe than using actual meters.
A distance of one light year in meters is=9.486632541 x 10^15 meters, would give you a very long number to write.

The linear distance that light travels in a year, through a vacuum. It should be noted that a year is defined as a Julian year, meaning exactly 365.25 days. An actual year on our planet is a tiny bit less than that, and also fluctuates.

that would be the distance that light travels in a year...you can do the math, i am much to lazy...light travels at 186,000 miles per second....multiply by how many seconds in a year...

remember that an earth day is 23 hours, 56 minutes and 4 seconds...not 24 hours. happy calculating!
