Starting as a English teacher, and then shifting toward your trained field as the door open I guess... Meantime, your Japanese has to be polished for sure. It sounds very hard...
In North America, there is almost no legal employment opportunities if you do not speak English well, however, in Japan you can still work as a English teacher. But you might want to know the fact that this is not a highly respectable job in Japan. Many of Japanese know that you have limited or almost no previous education / experiences of teaching English and society, and maybe most of whom were originally out of jobs in your country and come to Japan as "Dekasegi". Also many of teacher do not last long is a common sense.
Some get lucky that they got a job in large corporation or local schools after spending years teaching in Japan but these are not for everybody.
It is very hard for you to compete with Japanese for a well-paid jobs in Japan. The most easiest way for you is getting hired by a North American company who has their branch in Japan. Many Japanese live abroad do the same.

Well, the #1 job, as far as popularity is concerned is of course Teaching English. They all sort of go downhill from there, if you know what I mean. The real unsavory types of work. The only other option would be to work for a US/UK/AUS/NZ company, at an embassy or consulate, or as some sort of household staffer for an English speaking family. All other company jobs require Japanese.
Sorry couldn't of more help.

In my case all the jobs offered for me are in bentouya, were they prepare food and the such. Its a crappy job that exceeds 12 hours, so I do not recommend it.
Besides that, you may find jobs in companies were most employees are American and you could communicate with no problem.
I wish I could be more helpful, but all of the other options I`ve known here are those of extremely long working hours (where most workers are japanese-descendent latinos).
