That pretty much seems to be the case. As a liberal, I have to say that I don't really have much of a problem with traditional fiscal conservatism. I don't completely agree with it, but I respect its proponents, because they base their arguments on logic and reason and not on some belief in the supernatural. However, I have absolutely no respect for the Christian fundamentalists who have hijacked the Republican Party and who are trying to rewrite history and turn the US into a theocracy.

Gosh, you are such an optimist.
What is more likely is that the discourse will shift, not because of the end of the philosophical meanderings of the moronic, but because of the numbers in the presidential approval polls.

I'm sure that most true conservatives are disappointed with the power of the Christian Right, but what would be the alternative? When it comes to politics these days, most people go with the lesser of the two evils. I'm sure that a lot of Dems aren't that happy with the Pelosi and other extrema lefties.

The Republican party was created based on the concept of abolition of slavery. The abolition of slavery was a movement created by fundamentalist Christians. So, in truth, the Republican party really is going back to its roots.
Learning history is a wonderful thing.

I'm hoping it's shifting back toward normalcy. I can hardly wait to see the spin on Jesus' tomb.
Maybe we should clone Jesus from his bones. Would that make them happy? Then they could point and say the resurrection was real.
