yeah, im 17 and i wanna do the same thing! U just gotta practice drawing everyday! come up with ideas, make a little manga the best way to practice. make little story, draw it in maga style, and keep doing it. When ur senior, look for colleges that majors in art- im having a hard time finding one- and make sure u make a porfoilio tha'll blow the college people away. I'm working really hard- i stop drawing everyday until 2 am, so i don't lose my style. U just gotta practice REALLY hard, and when u triumph, u'll be incredible! trust me...

Start practicing anime styles so that you're well-versed and familiar with a lot of different artists by name and/ or style and make sure you're well versed in other art forms like painting, computer graphics, and even sculpture. Consider what kind of anime artist you want to be (background artist, character artist, colorist, illustrator, inker, etc.) and learn to draw QUICKLY and skillfully.
If you have aspirations of moving to Japan to do this, you may want to reconsider. Japan's immigration laws are very strict and if they don't feel you have something to offer the country they're not going to be too interested in letting you in. Also, before you even DREAM of moving or interning there, learn to speak Japanese fluently.
I'd recommend working in the US... or whatever country you're in ^_^... as a fusion artist (shows like 'Ben 10', 'Teen Titans' and other anime-influenced series).
Good luck.

Well, you probably know this already, but you need to nonestop practice drawing. You should take every art class in your high school. Then you need to just practice making manga, and your own comic strips. Show it to people, send it in to the newspaper of something, and then you should just look for a job in it out of high school.

Take an anatomy class and learn how the real body looks and works first, then do cartooning later. Cartoons look better and are more popular when you base them off of real life examples. I hope that helps.
