I always look at this word and sort of frown a little. It's time for the truth.

Well being I am from Illinois, you pronounce it without the s at the end. Don't be embarrassed. Many people get the pronounciation wrong.

The "s" is silent, so you say it Illinoy.

Now practice it till you get it right. There will be a test later, LOL.

Ill-i-noy (no "s" sound).

Chicago is pronounced - Shy-kay- go. Kelly Bundy explained that.

Hope that helps! Hey, you going to wear two eye patches? That will be, uh, sexy or what.

Pronounced as ill-annoy, but some use an 's' at the end.

This is the cause of great confusion in our country as well.

Some say Ill-I-Noise

and some say Ill-i-Noy

Personally, I drop the "S" as silent and go with Ill-i-noy

ill -in- oye, equal stress on all syllables. It's a Native American word meaning "place of smelly plants."
