Well, there are several core differences. I'll just stick to philosophy.
The Republican Party in general believes in "supply side economics", that is, granting tax breaks and incentives to big business and the very wealthy, so as to "stimulate economic growth", by having the money "trickle down" to the masses. This practice has led to our outrageous national debt.
The Democratic Party believes in heavier taxes for big business and the wealthy, thus creating more internal revenue with which to fund domestic programs.
The Republican Party, generally, takes a hard line stance on "moral" issues: i.e. they oppose abortion, homosexuality (much less gay marriage or adoption), drug use (including medical marijuana), flag-burning, and (currently) any anti-war and anti-government sentiment. They often support prayer in school.
The Democratic Party, generally, will take a liberal stance (though it can vary) on the "personal freedom" issues listed above. They believe in the seperation of church and state, (though they are no necessarily "anti-God", as one person here put it).
Republicans are now generally more security oriented, and willing to sacrifice freedoms and privacy in the interest of homeland security, while Democrats are generally not.
Republicans often downplay environmental issues, as they are deemed second to economic growth. Democrats are more likely to take the environmental side of an issue.
Republicans generally take a harder stance on immigration.
Republicans are more likely to oppose affirmative action.
Republicans believe more in capital punishment (and punishment in general) than Democrats.
Republicans are more likely to be on the "isolationist" side, while Democrats are more likely to want to create strong diplomatic ties with the international community.
At home, the Republican Party receives the vast majority of it's money from large corporations, religious groups, gun and tobacco lobbies, and the very rich, where as the Democratic party recieves much of their money from labor unions, civil rights lobbies, and environmental lobbies and such. That should give you a general idea where their interests lie.
I hope I helped!

Nothing. They run along the same ideology, except they are the two different sides to the same coin. It can be argued that Republicans do and want this, and that Democrats say and do that - but in reality they are all working towards the same goal (which I think is world domination - literally).
Here is my theory. The two parties are just one big party, pretending to be two parties in order to distract America from a true second party that holds a fresh ideology. There is so much hoopla over cons verses libs, Dems vs. GOP - but in reality it's all smoke and mirrors. It's BS.

Both will do anything to get into power. Both want power.
I sometimes wonder if either really care about the people or are just out to get everything they can.
They both attack each other. And they use personal attacks as they can't even refute the other's policies.
Both use power when they get it to repay their sponsors, the big contributors to their campaign funds.
The more I think about the less differences I can come up with. At the moment the only one I can think of is one claims to be for the people and the other, oops, not that either.

The Difference Between Republicans and Democrats
A Republican and a Democrat were walking down the street when they came to a homeless person. The Republican gave the homeless person his business card and told him to come to his business for a job. He then took twenty dollars out of his pocket and gave it to the homeless person. The Democrat was very impressed, and when they came to another homeless person, he decided to help. He walked over to the homeless person and gave him directions to the welfare office. He then reached into the Republican’s pocket and got out twenty dollars. He kept $15 for administrative fees and gave the homeless person five. Now you understand the difference between Republicans & Democrats

Repubican suck and Democrats blow
- Lewis Black
Republicans are more conservative in nature now and democrates are getting more liberal.
Conservative do more in giving to the poor than liberals.
Liberals talk a good game about caring but when it comes to doing the work you find conservatives doing it on their own without fan fare.
Each think they are right and other is dead wrong for America.
Both have lost their sense of humor and lost grip on what is important there is a set of people out there trying to do us harm but it has come to a politcal mud match.

I see little difference between the two. They both say one thing and do another...well, I see the democrats doing that more so than the republicans but they both do it but then, isn't that the way of any politician?

The Democrats on the other hand, what you dependent on the government, so they can tell you what to do and what to say. it is called Socialized government.....This is what they called soviet Russia...."Socialized" during Stalin & Hitler...so guess what we are headed for. Her eis my funny even though you dont want it....but they did give teh democrats the proper symbol....because they are Jackasses.....and yep....the elephant for the republicians....are fat a**es....but when the democrats end up with their socialized government....they will end up beign the big fat a**es...they will be eating good then....they will have your money and my money....and we will have to do exactly what we are told to do....just like Nazi germany.

I think Republicans' main concern, really and truly, in all aspects of their lives, is HOW CAN I GET MORE MONEY.
I think Democrats want everybody to have a chance at a decent life. Clean air, clean water, decent wages, better/more affordable health care, stuff like that.

There really is very little difference. I suspect Republicans may be smarter because they get caught in dishonest schemes less often, and it was after all a Democrat who told us all that having Monica take him in her mouth was not a sex act - and thought we'd believe him. At the end of the day, all politicians are in politics for one reason, and for all of them it is the same reason. That reason and their only goal, is their own personal gain, with fame being desirable but optional.
