Strange question, why commute to NY from Nashville? If you are planning to live in one or the other, it is best to pick the best college in each to apply to. Often circumstances will answer the question.

Vanderbilt is sweet, especially if you're looking to pursue law or medicine. They have a good journalism program as well.
