I was going to purchase the Norton Internet Security Suite 2007. I want something that handles the latest viruses & everything else.
I went to read some reviews & they were 50/50 although some bad ones were from people who did not have enough space on their computer for the program & others seemed to not know too much about computers. I believe I had Mcafee in the past & am wondering for all of those out there who have a product that actually works & works well, please let me know.
I am NOT interested in programs like the spybotenator (made that up). No sales pitched, just honest answers from people who have actually used a great product or a bad one I should stay away from. Thanks

Hi All, I do not want a Free one. I have AVG already. I do not mind paying for it at all. I believe it "you get what you pay for". I want complete security. I have never had a problem, but my father also have AVG & his computer is a Mess.

Imo Avast! is brilliant. There is a free version which is good but Avast! pro is pretty good. It's got on access scanner which has a network shield, p2p scanner, e-mail etc. you get the picture. 8 providers all in all. It's also got virus database recovery which fixes files damaged from viruses. It's a bit of a ram hog though and I generally switch it on when I'm out. (The virus database recovery that is. They're 2 seperate icons). Without VRDB on, it's hardly slows my comp one little bit. It also got rid of some pretty nasty trojans when I was using the free version that PAID versions couldn't. In the spyware department I recommend super antispyware pro, spyware doctor (bit of a ram hog and attaches itself to start-up) and hilackthis (only if you know what you're doing, as there will be plenty of false positives). Also recommend zone alarm pro 7.0, which has a good firewall and stops a lot of spyware being installed and stops you from going to sites which will install worms, ad-ware etc on your comp. Basically, I recommend getting a few different products from different retailers to get different angles so to speak, as I've found the 'all in one' products pretty big resource strainers. I've gone through a hell of a lot of trial and error and believe the bundle I have to be pretty decent. Also I've heard kaspersky anti virus is also right up there too..

I've had Norton & McAfee . Out of the two of them I liked the
Symantec product better. But I don't really care for either of
them! I've been using AVG for allmost a year now,and never
had a problem. I downloaded an infected file, and as soon as I
opened it AVG was all over it. If you want to know what the
pros think, and say you might want to use this link
http://www.pcmag.com/ it will help you. good luck

Out of everything the one I like most is Window's One Care...it's good and it doesn't hold up your whole system like Norton or McAfee.

Also, go to Download.com and download Ad-aware. It's a free program that scans your computer for ads, viruses and other things that can hold your system up. It's a really good program to have in addition to your anti-virus because it helps clean out things that can clog your system!

I have used AVG on all of my clients networks for 3+ years now. AVG is a product by Grisoft, has updates almost everyday, live and scheduled scans. It is a great product.

2 of my personal favorites are AVG (http://www.grisoft.com) and Avast!(http://www.avast.com/index.html) From personal experience with both of them, I would say that they both offer exceptional virus protection without the problems that symantec(Norton) and computer associates (McAfee) gives. I've supplied links to both of them. As far as to say which one is better. I like them both although I'm currently using avast! (probably becuase I had the program readily available at the time)
