I think stuffed animals for sure, aren't faux fur - those are man-made fibres/materials.
But with coats.. dog fur, etc.. I mean, they can say "faux", which means fake, but there aren't any regulations to check to see if they are truly fake or not, or whether they are raccoon like they say they are (Raccoons? In China?... c'mon now)...... From places like China, India, etc.. they obviously can flout the regulations, vs. a coat made in North America and has to pass more thorough inspections.
It's hard to say. WIthout a doubt, you have to be careful when buying fur coats, or better yet - don't buy them at all......

Faux fur is supposed to be just that. Fake. However there are some clothing chains (and they all deny any knoledge of it like P-Diddy) that are using "raccoon dog" fur on their clothes (mainly coats). Raccoon Dogs are from China and feel almost like fake fur. I dont know if they were being used because it was cheeper to breed them than to make a synthetic but thats what has been going on. Most of the clothing with this fake fur should have been removed from the stores by now and suffed animals should all be safe. For now, if it feels real, dont buy it until this is all straightened out.

I don't think so. Most faux fur I've seen is acrylic. Perhaps the expose was about people passing dog fur as better fur. That's more probable. They probably use it for collars on coats. But trust me, they aren't replacing cheap acrylic material with dog fur. They have to be replacing a more expensive one like mink or fox. It's okay, I don't wear fur that's real or fake. It's hideous and tacky.

It appears as though not all faux fur is really faux fur. It is animal fur. While stuffed animals appear to be made from synthetic materials, I am guessing that there are some expensive, exotic types from other countries that may be made from animals.
I just find this disgusting.

Oh yeah I saw that too. Yeah looks true. Nations like China and Russia don't have the rules we have. They make a jacket out of your little dog if they have to. Macy's trys to catch this b4 it gets to there stores. Not long ago they had to take some jackest off the sheffs b/c there where made from some sort of Raccoon dog.

I'm not sure about the show you saw but when it says 'faux' it is supposed to mean fake. it should be made out of polyester. it should not be made out of any sort of animal whether it be raccoon or dog.

Yes, sometimes faux fur is made from dog. Read the labels.
Most stuffed ANIMALS are made from synthetic fibers, and the label will tell you what it is made from.
