As long as the monitor uses the same connector and signal type as the computer and as long as you don't ask the monitor to run higher resolution or frequency that it can, any monitor will work on any computer.
Analog monitor will work on an analog card, digital monitor will work on digital card (they have different connectors, so they won't cross-connect). Some monitors have both types of connector.
Also, if your monitor maxes out at 1280x1024 pixels (image size), don't try to drive it to 1600x1400... and it it maxes out at 75Hz (refresh rate) don;t try to drive it at 85Hz. It won;t work... and may damage the monitor.

Absolutely. Monitors are not computer specific. As long as it uses a VGA connection, you should be fine. You can also check if it and your PC have DVI connections, which gives a better picture. However, a DVI cable is around $60, so you're probably fine with VGA. :)
