This is meant to be funny, so I want some funny comments or opinions.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind the "good morning', short comment conservation. But, this older guy and older lady who work in the cubicles next to me every freakin' morning have a cup of coffee and talk and talk and talk.........I can't stand it. And b/c I'm younger they like to come into my cube, and have their conservations. After a while I become so disinterested in what they are talking about I just act like I'm not paying attention.
Older people, and coffee in the morning are a mix that drive me crazy. You find yourself talking to someone over the fax machine in the copy room for 30 minutes, a little world politics, outsourcing, emails, weather, family, meetings, lunch yesterday, all the while your trying to get the damn piece of paper through the machine. I just want to blurt out 'shut up' sometimes. What's anyones take on this? I know there are some of you who agree about old peeps and coffee.

It isn't because you're younger---it's because they like you and want you to be a part of what they enjoy. It might do you well to talk to your elders a bit more. When you need them, they'll be there for you like you will be for them. If you ignore them, then why should they bother with helping you if something happens?

Ya, I used to be just like ya. Rushing around, always trying to get my work done well and on-time. There's nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing, wrong with how you feel. You're the type that likes to do a good job and be respected for that. You're a good man, but some people cannot take a hint if their life depended on it.
You can try telling them that "I have to get this done now or the boss is gonna' crank on me." Say it with a smile, laugh and then say, "I'm not gettin' any younger and I have to save on my brain power if I'm going to keep getting a paycheck." If you can make them laugh, great.
If you can't make them laugh, tell them (in a truthful way) that you need to concentrate on what you are doing and that when they talk in your space that it disrupts your thinking. Then say, "hey, when it comes to this business, I have to learn what you guys forgot." What this does is 1. it compliments them and makes them feel useful (which is very important to an older person). 2. makes them look at you in a kinder fashion and you just may find that you really can use their help in ways that you just haven't thought of yet.
Try it and see. It worked for me.

Food for thought-
Hope and pray that you LIVE long enough to be their age to seek out an innocent conversation with someone. People just need to be acknowledged and appreciated. As you get older, you get less of the two from people. The fact that they feel they can talk to you should honor you. Be patient. We will all age( if we are lucky).

I am in my 60's and I think it is only polite to chat and have a coffee with my female coworkers before taking them into the supply closet and having my way with them! You should certainly understand that as i am sure you never **** before coffee!
