I HATE this question...I don't know and I don't care! Sorry its not your fault...your just asking and honestly I think I hate this question because I don't know the answer and when I try to come up with an answer, my head starts to hurt...sorry!
I have always thought that the egg came first...like two animals got together...not a chicken tho...just two different animals...layed an egg and it came out looking like a chicken...
You know when dogs have puppies and they are a mix breed...I think Chickens are a mixed breed between to somethings...so I say the egg...
I dunno, this is why I hate this question!

EGG
Reason: An animal not unlike the chicken laid an egg - some change in the DNA or structure of the foetus or something meant that the offspring hatched as a chicken.

An egg and a chicken are lying in a bed together. The Chicken, with a smug satisfied grin, leans over, takes out a cigarette, & lights up.
The egg, looking a bit pi$$ed off, pulls the sheet round it, hops out of bed and says
"well, i guess we finally answered THAT question then!"

Ther has to be a chicken to have a egg and there has to be a egg to have a chicken. In the beginning there was creation and God created all animals and Noah took the animals 2 by 2. And from there they bred and laid the egg. So of course it was the chicken that came first.
Just like the riddle is a zebra white with black strips or black with white strips?

Logically it must have been the egg - something evolved over time to become a chicken, and the evolutionary level before chicken must have laid an egg to produce a chicken (which comes form an egg). Thus egg first, from chicken parent

in this famous debate i believe the egg came first, the egg was laid by another creature and a series of mutations in the DNA, has over time created what we know as the chicken.
