Has anyone else seen it? Did you see it in the theater or on DVD and what did you think? I was blown away by this movie. I can't believe it never came around where I live. Was it never in wide release? This movie had great acting, cinematography, awesome sound track/score and a great story about the balance between good and evil. How cool that an Australian rocker wrote the screenplay and the music.

In my opinion, it was the best western I've seen since 'Unforgiven'. The movie was pretty unconventional in its storytelling processes (there was no clean cut intepretation of good and evil, as demonstrated by Guy Pearce and David Wenham's characters as well as Danny Huston). It also did an excellent job in giving us a portrait of 19th century Australia and the racial turmoil it was enduring. Like 'The Twilight Samurai', it showed the end of an era and the changes that are occurring. Each character is aware of that impending change; some embrace it, others fight to keep things as it was. Lastly, the ending was very fitting to the story as it showed that there is still a lot of uncertainty lingering. Overall, it was an excellent film that was sorely overlooked and underrated in America.

Easily one of the best Westerns to come out in years. It was in the same vein as the spaghetti westerns of the 60's, combining solid acting and gritty cautionary tales of violence.

I saw it on DVD as I don't think it was widely released in the United States.
