hi, there are quite a few faults which would cause this problem. first are you getting a click when you turn the starter motor?
if you are next check fuel gauge while attempting to start, and if it falls back to zero it could be just a jammed starter, but you say its been unused since November so I would dismiss that one but if you engin turned a little at you first attempt then stopped. it may well be jammed. next you must exam in all electric connections starter motor solenoid etc and I mean exam in not just try moving it and concluding because its tight it will be OK I've seen really solid elect connections which turned out to be the problem. if all is OK next try starting again but nothing may happen keep key trurned to start for 7/10 seconds switch off and this is the bit you will have to be careful feel the starter motor connections and battery solenoid for heat but watch out faulty connections can get really hot.
If you haven't had any joy next thing to do is take the keys out put the car in second or third gear, hand break off and if possible get a friend to tow "jag is a big heavy car" the car a foot or so backwards, yes I know the car is in forward gear but there are engineering reasons whey this is best. if you have a jammed starter this should sort it out for you. I have assumed you have had a fully charged battery fittet in you car. there are other faults which would give the same symptoms dropped valve seized motor etc. but good luck with it I feel its a simple fault.

If you have power to the lights, horn, etc. than that doesn't mean that the battery is still good, if you turn the key to start the car, and hear a small click, than I would try another battery, but make sure that the possitive, and the negative cables to the battery are tight, before you do anything. If you don't have any power at all than you should check your fuses. If nothing is wrong w/ the electronics than you should then check to see if the starter is any good.

Do you listen the sound of igniting gasoline? If no longer, then you're not to any extent further getting gasoline interior the engine or you're not to any extent further getting sparks. verify the gasoline rigidity, then try testing the battery or try boosting the vehicle from a operating one. If the lights interior the vehicle are on, you've means. in the journey that they are dim, the battery is low on means. try loosening the fan belt and observe if the alternator can spin or if it really is siezed. And in simple terms make positive that the spark plugs are appropriate interior the right order, until eventually you probably did not disconnect them.

If the battery's good, try cranking it over with the plugs out. No joy? Like the previous answer says add a little Redex to ech cylinder & leave to soak, then try again.

if the vehicle is an auto you can't rock it in gear or tow start. redex is good advice try turning the engine with the plugs out using a socket on the crank pulley nut. i personaly would use duck oil down the bores as it removes rust
