My car has started to act sluggish when i drive on the expressway and is kind of stalling. A guy friend drove it and told me i need a tune up, and something about the fuel. Can anyone give me a little help. Its a 97 Grand Am SE new battery, and new starter.

it doesnt really matter what sort of car it is you need regular services. One of the things they do during a seviceis change your fuel filter which could be the reason its running a bit sluggish, and perhaps thats what he meant when he said about the fuel, if your filter is dirty your engine might not be getting enough fuel, therfor making it sluggish. honestly there could be a couple of reasons why its doing thisfor and your battery and starter probably aint it, They would give you problems whilst trying to start your car
You could also have a problem with your spark plugs and/or spark plug leads, Ive just recently replaced mine because of the same reason. I would definatly get a service done and get it checked out, you dont want the problem to worsen and get stuck somewhere

When the gas tank is near empty add two 12 oz. plastic cans of Chevron fuel injector cleaner to your fuel tank. It's on sail now at Advance auto two cans for $6.95. Fill your tank 3/4 full with gas. and run it empty. As others have said new fuel filter, plugs and ignition wires will help a ton especially if your car has never had a tune up before. I think your little Buick V6 (that's the motor in your car) may have a distributor so add a new cap and rotor also. Buy a good brand, MSD, Standard or Accel. They all have copper inserts inside the cap and wire terminal holes. Add the best ignition wires you can lay your hands on. MSD, AC Delco or NAPA. Change your air cleaner also. Have your oil changed with a good brand of 5w-30, Valvoline, Havoline, Brad Penn or Quaker State. Ask your mechanic to remove the ignition module clean the bottom and distributor plate add new ignition silicone grease and screw it back in snugly. These things will help. Good Luck

Try running some fuel injector cleaner through the gas before you go spending a lot of money. Make sure that the air filter is still good. My friend had a 96 GrandAm that did the exact same thing, and all it was, was a plugged air filter. (Cheap fix)

you may look into new plugs and wires.. drop a bottle of fuel injector cleaner into the tank next time you fill up...

you really should get your car a normal check up.. like yearly.

it needs (health care) just like you do
