I'll go with millionsofsubys on this. Tirerack.com is an awesome site. It takes a while to get what's going on, because it has so MUCH information there. You can put in your car model and let them take over with recommendations. Once you have a few, be sure to click on "survey results" to see how the tire you are looking at stacks up. Within each type (such as "All Season High Performance"), click on "Show all tire in this category" (or something like that) and you'll see the list in order. If it fits your car, the tire will me in bold type and marked with a bullet.

You can also read buyer reviews and filter the results by your specific car, so you will see what others thought about putting the "Brand X" tire on their Impreza.

Here you go. I put in your car and this is the "Best Seller" results page. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/CompareMostPop.jsp?autoYear=2005&autoMake=Subaru&autoModel=Impreza%20WRX%20Sedan&autoModClar=&sortCode=44950&width=205/&ratio=55%20&diameter=16&minSpeedRating=V&minLoad=S&search=mostpop&vehicleSearch=true&

I would go with 215/45/r16 yokohama s-drive or toyo 888, the wider the tyres the better the turn!!!

14" for a regular Impreza, 16" for an STI. Go with pirelli tires.
