A guy at work has just posed the question "Do I need planning permission to build an underground bunker in his garden?".......does he?

Sure u do, otherwise u shall be ripping the plumbing & maybe even the power cables. By the way what is that guy afraid of? Star wars!

In most jurisdictions, you would need permits to do this type of construction. Your friend should check with local govt. offices to see what is needed.

The problem is that the permits would become public record. The LAST thing anyone needs is for others to know about a bunker or shelter. If it isn't kept secret, then when the time comes, your friend may have to shoot friends, neighbors, and relatives who are trying to get inside with him.
