I was watching ABC news last week, and they did a report on gangs in America. And it sickened me. ABC showed how they beat each other up over turf, drugs, and new members. And in many cases, kill innocent people who were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Even children. One of the cases a little 5 year old was sleeping in her bed, and some gang did a driveby and a stray bullet went through the house and killed the little girl while she was sleeping. Another was a few month old baby, the parents accidently ended up in the wrong area, and gang members thought they their car belonged to someone in a rival gang, and shot the car up. The bullet that pierced and killed the baby was about 2 inches long.
If gang members are so tough why not join the military and put that fighting to good use.

The U.S. Armed Forces, a while back, used to take these "societal rejects" at the recommendation of a judge...for these folks, it was "the military or jail." The military usually got out of them what society did...the very few who truly wanted to turn their life around stuck it out through basic training.
Nowadays, The U.S. Armed Forces can be a little more picky about who they let in. Granted, while I was in uniform, I saw one or two fellow Sailors with gang tattoos, but they were few and far between...they also had clean "rap sheets," so that went a ways to get them in.
By in large, these folks are undisciplined, unbalanced thugs who use drugs. If society wants them incarcerated, why would you think the Dept. of Defense would want to put a rifle in their hands?

Gang members will never do that because they are chicken sh*t when it comes to real sh*t like that. I give it up to the guys in jail cause they have to fight as a survival method but the ones in the street they are just a bunch of fools, then again weapons, drugs, and prostitution do provide lots and lots of money. I used to fight many back in high school until I was in my Senior year since then, I think they gave up trying to kill me as they claim they would. I used to be asked by groups of at least 3 members but most of the time there would be more, what I claimed....meaning what gang I belonged to......I am latino but does not mean I am a gang member. I used to find out who each member was and where they lived follow them for a few days and confront them while alone.......some would deny to be gang members because their friends were not present and the ones who did fight me thought carrying gun or knife was enough to intimidate me......once I made them drop their weapon and beat the f*ck out of them, I would brought out my own weapons for a change, they would even cry for me not to kill them!!! As far as I am concern, They are a bunch of loosers and if anyone would like to confront me for this message, PLEASE DON'T TRY TO FIGHT ME WITH A WEAPON CAUSE IT WOULD BE YOUR LAST TIME TRYING TO BE MR. TOUGH NOR BRING A CROWD BECAUSE MY RULES ARE: WEAPONS AND GROUPS KILL ALL!!. I don't f*ck with anyone anymore and if you try to hurt anyone in my family, or anyone I care for including myself, I will show you why I know you are a real chicken sh*t!!!

They "kill innocent people who were just in the wrong place at the wrong time" now why should they join the military? They break laws and steal how would you propose to train them to defend and follow rules?

gang members commit crimes and steal stuff because they are too lazy to get jobs.. the military teaches discipline, so most gang members wouldn't be able to handle it.. people in gangs would prefer to just prey on the weak because they are cowards at heart..

The military is too disciplined for these gang members. They have their own "discipline codes" prob., but they obv. have no human capacity for life at all.
