I think todays models are sick. I don't know about you, but the average women is not a size 00! More and more women are trying to fit that image and it is soo hard to watch. I believe designers know that women have body image problems and they don't care. They are trying to do there best and are not worrying about the size of the models.Because less materials mean less money to spend. Its sad to say that what is really average, is going to be considerr plus size. I have feeling that in 3-4 years a size 8 is going to be conside plus size. I think we need models and designers that will teach the younger girls that as long as you love yourself and then weight doesn't really matter

I really think the fashion industry, combined with the Holly-weird elite, are responsible for this whole idea that you must be thin in order to be beautiful. It wasn't always this way -- Jane Russell was celebrated as a "full-figured" woman, and Marilyn Monroe wore a Size 14. Thirty years ago, your average model weighed 8-10% less than your average American; nowadays the average model weighs 28-30% less than the average American. Now, part of the problem there is the fact that so many Americans are "overweight," but even so, the number of women with eating disorders has tripled in the past decade. The fashion industry and Hollywood need to get real and stop pushing this idea that you're worthless unless you're skinny as a rail.

some may disagree with me, i don't don't necessarily think that it is all of the designers fault.
i mean, sure, they make tiny clothes that a "real woman" can not fit into, but no one is forcing women to starve themselves, or to become bulimic, or do anything else that will endanger their health just to fit these unrealistic standards.
the fact that someone would even consider going down a dangerous path just for "fashion" shows that there is a deeper unresolved problem that stems from somewhere else.
if modeling, or acting is your passion, but you don't fit into the category of what Hollywood considers "beautiful", why jeopardize you life??
whats more important, being the world's next supermodel and throwing up 5 times a day??, or taking another path in life while being a healthy individual who realizes that she can be beautiful without being a size negative 0??!!

I do.
There was one designer (I want to say Nicole Miller, but don't quote me on that) on a fashion network recently who said that she prefers designing for slender, size 2, women because they have a more flattering sillhouette.
I think it's sad that designers want to design clothing for women, but don't want to consider the "everyday" woman. How can they limit themselves to just one, very small, genre?
Of course, the "everyday" woman can't afford the high-fashion clothes they designer, either.
It's a very frustrating, never-ending cycle. I hope it take a turn for the better soon. I'm a size 6/8, and I'm finding that jeans are harder to fit into these days, just because the styles get thinner and skinnier. When did size 8 become a size 2?

I think there are some people who are naturally slender and try to gain weight but can't (goodness knows I'm not one of them!), but I think in the fashion industry there is a huge amount of pressure on models to "step up their game" some, especially since a modeling career is fairly short-lived. I think a lot of this pressure preys especially on middle and high school aged girls.

I think designers could have something with designers being extremely skinny. But I do not believe that has everything to do with it.

did you see the AGENCY on VH1?
the models have to be sickly thin so that the client will pick them, so the agency representing them will make money. it's everyone's fault , including the models for allowing people to treat them like they're coat hangers and not actual human beings
