ok apparanty my question wasnt clear enough. I need to turn off the touch mouse so that when I type its not moving around if i accidently touch the pad. I know there is a way.

just use the usb mouse instead.

It would have been a lot more helpful if you had mentioned the brand and or model number of your laptop. On HP/Compaq notebooks, there is usually a switch right above the touchpad that can be used to turn it on or off. On Toshiba notebooks, usually Fn+F9 key combination will toggle between touchpad on and off. I am sure toher manufacturers have similar tricks. Hope this helps.

In properties for you r mouse there will be an area to turn it off when you have another mouse plugged in.
