Ignore Mike and Richard, they are incorrect.

According to the WTR (Working Time Regulations), an employee is entitled to 20 minutes rest for every 6 hours worked. The 10/ 15 minutes breaks the others talk about is purely at the discretion of the employer.

yes it is legal for every 2 hours you should be able a 15 min break and every 4 hours a thrity min. break.( note: you don't get 45 min Because of the 15 +30 breaks every four hours) THEN you get another15 min break at 6 hours. Then you sohould get another 15 min break at 8 if you are still working then. so in total you should have 75 min of break time.

Please note that the 30 minuit break is your aloowed by law lunch break (this break can not be shorter than that)

have a good day

depends on the contract and the job. Usually you get two 15 minute paid breaks, and a half hour for lunch that may or may not be paid. If you have a nine hour shift they are probably giving you an hour for lunch. Sometimes I stand a four hour watch twice a day, and get no breaks. If you are in a union, then you take what the union has negotiated, or they send out vinnie to break your kneecaps.

According to Personnel Today, every worker is entitled to:

- at least 11 hours off between each working day
- at least one complete day (24 hours) off each week, or two days off each fortnight
- a 20-minute break in any shift of six hours or more.

Hope that helps!
