There are two things to understand about this drug.
#1 - it's very rarely pure and the most common additive is meth. meth is cheaper and gives a similar "body" effect althouth the mental is definately *NOT* the same.
#2 - the only medical concerns you need to have with this drug are...
A) MOAI inhibitors. If you're on one and you take a roll, you will die. You WILL DIE. DEAD. MOAI inhibitors specifically prevent the breakdown of the MDMA in your brain when you're on the drug and it will create a toxicity in the brain.
B) If you have a heart condiition, because MDMA metabolizes into amphetamines (which is why it keeps you awake) it can cause people with cardiac conditions to have heart attacks, annureiusm, etc. Problem with this is that many people don't know that they have a problem until something triggers it.
Beyond that, everything you put in your body effects you in some way - from the high fructose corn syrup in your soda to the tylenol you take for a head-ache.
However, I wouldn't rule it out for anyone, we are talking about a drug that was invented to be used by marriage therapists and grief counsellors.

It raises body temperature, leading to dehydration.
It messes with brain chemistry, by flooding the brain with serotonin (the chemical linked to happiness). Which is fine for the time being, however when the Ecstasy wears of your uptake receptors will not be able to absorb serotonin properly leading to at least a few days of serious depression, sometimes a long term chronic problem with depression.
Another problem with Ecstasy is you have no idea what else is in it. It was mostly likely cooked up by some guy named Vinny with a grade nine education in his bathroom. It is sometimes cut with meth, sometimes cut with far worse toxins. Ecstasy can kill. Why anybody would gamble with thier life for a couple hours feeling good is beyond me.

Many of my friends and I have been taking E for years now and none of us have noticed any detrimental effect on the body at all. Previous generations have said the same. Not everybody is going to have a good reaction to the stuff, though I've known hundreds of takers and not one of them has had a bad reaction. What you want to watch is your head; all good things in moderation as they say. I've known a few go a bit loopy, albeit temporarily, if they take too many in too short a space of time. Paranoia, panic attacks, vague depression, that sort of thing. But you do have to go overboard to get yourself in this state. You might want to look at www.talktofrank.com. Informative and realistic, which is surprising from a government sponsored site.
PS www.ecstasy-effects.com is scaremongering at its worst and should be largely ignored.

You don't get anything for nothing. If you take it and have what Iguess some might call "a good time" then your body will pay in the short time with a comedown the next day and in the longterm with health concerns such as depression etc
