Here is my situation.... I do take birth control pills first of all ( ortho-tri-cyclen). I was on my period last week so I obviously wasn't taking the "active pills" Sunday my period ended and I started back up with the "active white pills" I took them Sunday and then Monday I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend. I've been on the birth control pill for three months now but I was just concerned because of the fact that I had unprotected sex two days after my period and since I wasn't taking the active pills the previous week I was wondering if the birth control pill would still be effective. Please let me know your opinion.

do you think the morning after pill would be necessary? I def. don't want to take it if it's not needed.

First off the pill isn't 100% effective.

Also, I wouldn't worry because you can only get pregnant when you ovulate and women ovulate approximately 2 weeks prior to their period.

Sperm can live in your for about 5 days so if you do the math...you can't really get pregnant unless your cycle is 16-19 days.

I think you are fine. I never took the pills for the week of my period. They aren't necessary. They are just reminders to keep you on track with taking pill everyday. I was on the pill for probably 6 or 7 yrs. I had unprotected sex at all different times of my cycle. You should be fine. Once it is in your system and you are taking it the right way, it works. Good luck

Your chances are pretty low. There is always a small chance that even if you were on the pill in the middle of your cycle that you could get pregnant. It's low, but there. You, however, had sex right after your period ended. The chances that you were ovulating within 3 days of that day are very small so you should be in the clear. I would agree with the previous answer that a condom is a good idea. Especially if you are not in a long lasting monogamous relationship. Good luck!

if you have been on the pill longer than 30 days and have not missed or skipped any than you can have unprotected sex when ever and you should be fine,so after 3 months of taking them i would say you are not gonna get pregnant. The non active pills are just so your body can rest and you can have your period, but the hormones are still in your system to keep you from getting pregnant. hope this helps good luck

You should be fine, three months time is just about right for the pill to be in your system, I wouldn't risk missing a pill if you are having unprotected sex especially after your period since this is when you ovulate...

As long as you have been taking your pills regularly you shouldn't have anything to worry about, however, if you miss even one pill you can get pregnant. Birth control pills are not 100% effective but it sounds to me like you will be okay. If you have any concerns or start to feel like you are getting pregnancy symptoms your best bet is to take a pregnancy test at home or at your doctors office. Hope this helps, best of luck.

I am not saying this could happen to everyone, but my sister got pregnant while taking the pill. So just to be safe use a condom also, that way you don't have to worry about STD's also. Not only that but your chances of becoming pregnant are VERY slim. Not everything is 100% affective. I have always used a condom while having sex, then ONE time I didn't use one, and I got pregnant. From that ONE time. So it really don't take much! Good luck!

You shouldn't get pregnant while not on the active pills just so long as you start taking them again on time.
Actually the first week of your pill pack is the most important and MUST be taken on time.
You will be just fine.

Altough I'm a boy, I think that just after your period there are not many chances you will be pregnant. And because of the fact that you have been taking pills for quite a while it will be even difficulter.

you're safe. for any birth control during the week that you don't take it for your period you are safe any time without protection. i have been on all sorts of birth control and never got pregnant until i got off of it. it should say in the instructions that back up method is not needed during or after this period
