I am doing a project on Franienstien and have to come up with a song that expresses the mood of a part of the book. It dosen't matter which part or what the mood is. Does anybody have any suggestions, i have came up with a few but I'm sure there is something better than what I have. It dosent have to be only about Lonliness or rejection I just know those are two pretty big themes in the book. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

the only songs i can think of are roy orbison's 'only the lonely'. there is a part where frankenstein shows feelings towards this woman, and being that he's not really human, she cant really be with him. freddie mercury's song 'living on my own' kind of signifies Frankenstein being on his own. there's also a song by benjamin - marcus entitled 'lonely man', i think sung by elvis presley, signifying Frankensteins journey. and how about that song from 'the phantom of the opera' (2004 version) entitled 'learn to be lonely', sung by Minnie Driver. in a way, that song signifies kind of everything really. here are the lyrics to that song.

Child of the wilderness
Born into emptiness
Learn to be lonely
Learn to find your way in darkness

Who will be there for you
Comfort and care for you
Learn to be lonely
Learn to be your one companion

Never dreamed out in the world
There are arms to hold you
You’ve always known your heart was on its own

So laugh in your loneliness
Child of the wilderness
Learn to Be lonely
Learn how to love life that is lived alone

Learn to be lonely
Life can be lived life can be loved alone

i guess in a way, when it uses child of the wilderness, u can use it as a way of saying that even though Frankenstein looked like a grown monster type of a man, he was still a child in the beginning because he was created by man in that image, but in his mind and the things that he did in the beginning were child-like. the wilderness being that his path was one of a natural one that he had to pick up, having really only but one friend in his creator, Victor Frankenstein. remembering that no-one ever dared to look his way, thinking he was a 'hideous creature'. once Frankenstein realises his feeling and emotions, he starts to become more human, but at the same time, he still feels after his rejection by the woman, that he has no one to care for him and no chance of being normal. it's about him experiencing things for himself, on his own, discovering what he truly feels.
