Ok, so I have a cage that is high enough that she cant jump out of... she tried one day and she almost hurt herself... so I put something on it so she wouldnt try again... just a cardboard lid... now a few weeks later she is trying it again This usually happens if I havent let her out in 12 hours... is she doing this cause she wants to run around or because she cant see outside her cage?
I used to have the wire but she always used to chew on that and make lots of noise.
what should I do thanks?

Rabbits need exercise. They will stop at nothing to get it .We have 3 and the all get plenty of exercise at night.

Your rabbit can't see outside of her cage?!? I am not trying to be rude but that is almost abuse. Imagine if you were stuck inside of a room all day with no windows or door sto see what was going on around you. You can here things; noises, people, etc. but you can't see anything. You would probably be scarred too. You should purchase a cage specifically designed for rabbits. Your rabbit should also be allowed time to run around outside of its rabbit cage to get exercise. If you do not want your rabbit to have free run of the house you can buy "play pens" that are wire mesh that allow the rabbit freedom to run without roaming around. It is also probably a very good idea for you to provide toys as well as some fun bedding for your critter. Fun bedding for a rabbit is some type of hay that it can burrow in and chew on.

Having a pet is a great responsibility. They cost money and take time to care for. If you do not have the money or time to care for them you should just not have one. Here are some sites that may help you find a suitable rabbit cage and "play pen" as well as some toys and accessories to keep your rabbit happy and healthy:

Here is a site that gives you pointers as well as care instructions for your rabbit:

If you feel as though maybe you have made a mistake and cannot care for your pet rabbit here is some information on rabbit shelters:

I hope everything works out and you and your rabbit stay happy friends for a long time.

I'm sorry if I have offended you, although, it seems like everyone else on here seems to share my opinion. I'm sure you have a shoe-box for a dorm, however, atleast you get to leave from time to time. Don't get mad at me because you are penning your animal up with no mental stimulation. It is obvious there is an issue with the way you are housing your animal or he/she would not be trying to jump out of its pen. You need to correct the problem or find someone else to care for your animal who knows how to.

I absolutley agree with Danielle!

Rabbits tend to get bored easily & they love to play & are very curious.
If you want a healthy pet then put up with the noise!
She just wants your attention when she rattles the wire on the pen, take a few minutes out & give her some time when she does it. Also give her something to chew on, a block of untreated wood or twigs from an apple tree.
Or consider giving her to someone who has more time to spend with her.

You have her in a box??? She needs some type of view. She will kill herself out of boredom. Put her back in the wire cage. Think about it...go sit in your closet for 12 hrs and see what you will do to try to escape.
It is a mix of boredom (which can be resolved by being able to look at stuff) and wanting to get out to play.

Try using laundry clips to secure a bed sheet on top of the cage. Does she have any toys to play with? My buns love carboard tubes, plastic baby keys, newspaper, phone book and dried apple branches. http://www.rabbit.org

Your bunny is fairly like yet somebody else (YOU!) so which you may desire to teach him some interest and kindness. he will ultimately recover from being new to the community, and he will play with the different and be chuffed. with a bit of luck, precise?

Use the bunny as a football. It wants to see the outside world.. Well, give it a little help and give it a flying trip around the house. You can also punt the bunny if you wish.
