a real point image is the point source of light, while the virtual point image is the extended source of light reflected by the real point image. A real point image can be defined as a nonluminous object ; it can be reflected on a surface causing the virtual point image. The real image can always be there if you move the object it was being reflected on without disturbing its original position. While moving the object it was being reflected to can cause disruption in the original position of the virtual image.

The image which is formed on screen is called real image. And the image that can be formed on a plain mirror is called virtual image. real and virtual images are not the same. The virtual image cannot be formed on scree whereas the real image can. The virtual image can be formed on mirror but it will not remain there forever. It will only be present.

real images is formed by the intersection of light rays after refraction at a point.in real image the light rays converge at a point.but in a virtual image the light rays doesnot meet at a point.
it formed by extending rays .
The image that can be caught on the screen is called Real Image.
The image that cannot be caught on the screen is called Virtual Image.

the difference between real and virtual image is that real image is formed by real light rays, can be projected on screen e.g photos from digital camera whereas virtual images are formed by the extending light rays which are not real, cannot be formed on the screen.

In a real image, light actually focuses at that point. With a virual image, light only appears as if it is coming from that point. Real images form behind a lens or infront of a mirror. Virtual images appear form behind a mirror or infront of a lens.

virtual images are those that are formed not really but by extending the light rays which donot actually meet.whereas the real images are formed due to actual meeting of the light rays.there are quie a few differences in the characteristics of the real and virtual images.
