UC Berkeley, also known as Cal to alumni and sports fans is ranked as the #1 public university by US News & World Report for several years.

Berkeley College is a small vocational-oriented college with campuses across New York and New Jersey. Schools with similar calibers include University of Phoenix, ITT Technical Institute, and others.

The one in California is part of the UC (University of California) system and it's one of the top public universities in the country. The correct name, though, is UC Berkeley. The system also includes UC Santa Cruz, UCLA, UC Davis, UC San Diego, etc.

It's a university (undergraduate and graduate schools) whereas Berkeley College is strictly an undergraduate college (Associate & Bachelor degrees, but no Masters or Doctorate programs).

One is the big famous one that's one of the most famous schools in the world. (The California one).

The other is pretty much the opposite. (Exaggerated, but you get the picture).
