The episode played last night, 2/27/07. A man had driven to a house on the assumption he would be having sex with a minor girl. When caught, he said his behavior was because he had bipolar disorder and was off his meds. I would like to know what other peoples' reactions to that statement are.

I think that he was lying to make an excuse for what he did. It's like almost all the other ones say "I'm stupid" or "This is my first time doing something like this" or "I wasn't going to do anything" or my favorite "I always carry _______ on my/in my car" LOL Even if he/she is bipolar-I have never met a bipolar person that wanted to do such a meditated act such as this with or without their "meds"

Having bipolar still doesn't make it okay to have relations with a minor. It also doesn't mean he didn't know right from wrong, he did.

At any rate I would think he will still be labeled a pedophile by the courts and have to face the same punishment. Going back onto medication is not a way out of prison.

Polar bears which makes me imagine of a Klondike Bar-no comic tale. and then i imagine of mania and the grandiosity, lack of sleep, and overly formidable aims, going ninety mph....and then slamming into melancholy. Then that jogs my memory of how annoying it really is at the same time as human beings say "she/he's so bipolar" to describe someone who "loves you, then hates you." that could no longer bipolar-thats borderline personality affliction!

he's full of it. my husband is bi-polar, doesn't take his meds and he doesn't use that as an excuse for anything. people have been told if they have a mental disorder, they're not liable or responsible for anything they do. my husband got in trouble with the law in july and he had enough common sense even without being on meds to admit to everything and cooperate fully. this idiot just didn't want to admit on tv he is sick. he gave an excuse for another type of sickness instead.

I think he would say anything to make the situation appear not to be what it really was. He was just a garden variety, child molesting pervert.
