Eating spicy food will not harm your breastmilk nor your baby. I breastfed along with eating spicy food in the end of my pregnancy, and it had no effect!

I ate spicy food during my entire pregnancy and during breast feeding. All was well. I would suggest staying away from onions or a lot of garlic. It won't hurt the baby, but it will affect the taste. Avoid too much alcohol too, because it dehydrates you. The more you feed the more milk you will produce. It's all about supply and demand. It's not easy at first, but it is worth the work. Also drink plenty of fluids, eat healthy - pretty much the same as when you are pregnant.
It will take a few days after birth for your milk to come in. You will get colostrum first which is very good for the baby.

No worries Dear!!!! the baby won't be getting any milk for the first couple of days anyway after birth, the first thing your baby will get is the colostrum not actual milk... You will find that some foods won't even effect your baby, what you eat isn't really that big of a deal you will just have to pay attention to your baby.... I have nursed four children all over a year and I didn't see to much of a problem with the foods I ate more so with what I drank, try to stay away from caffine atleast an hour before nursing... You will do just fine!!!!!

I think it's great that you want to breast feed. I breastfeed all four of my kids. When you eat spicy food does it make the baby move more. Dr. usually advise not to eat spicy food, because it can make the baby uncomfortable and spit up. I would go with bland foods at first. Your not going to feel like eating much at first anyway. They add one meal with spicy food and then see of it effects your baby. If it does and not eating spicy food is out of the question then consider bottle feeding. But please try it first the bond is special, but then bottle feeding offers a good bonding to.

Spicy foods usually wotn hurt the baby. He may show an aversion to them but if so then just stop oncve you know. But it won;t hurt him. I eat spicy stuff all the time and am almost solely breastfeedign my 10 month old(food allergies so solids have been 1 step forward and 2 steps back).

spicy food will not harm your baby.... and by the time you get around to feeding your little one the spicy food would have dissapeared from your system anyway. drinking plenty of warte will help you with your milk supply and your baby will do the rest. also, stressing out over things will harm your milk supply, so relax and stop worrying

Spicy foods will not harm your baby. If that was the case imagine how the kids in Mexico or my home state of Texas would feel.

My husbands family is Hispanic and all the women eat spicy foods and have breast fed their babies.
I know when i eat spicy foods i get heart burn like crazy so i try and stay away from it or i'm up all night long with a bottle of Maloxx.
I know it's hard especially when your craving (like me) but just think of you suffering afterwards!

the spicy foods will only affect your breastmilk the same day you eat them , you have plenty of time left to eat them all you want!!!
