Well, lets see---30 days of free room and board or 500 dollars? I would take the 30 days. Sounds like a better deal.

Of course!!! Why would anyone want to go to jail even for a day. It may traumatize you for life. Just look at the $500 as a tax payment or something and then you will not feel so bad.

A buddy of mine was faced with that choice. He was retired and bored out of his mind. He chose jail just for three meals he didn't have to cook, a set daily routine he didn't have to plan and just a change to his daily boring life. The judge gave him 10 days in jail as it wasn't going to be any kind of punishment for him.

I've heard that the food in jail is nasty so I'd pay the $500 and hope they accept a payment plan.
