If the female folks come out with real answers I will be happy.

By laws of nature the odour caused by the male or female hormones are just to attract their pairs.

But the perfume ads. are giving us a totally different picture.

I think what is confusing people here is the odor in sweat. That odor is caused by bacteria. Pheromones are not the same scent, and I bet we women probably do like them if they are caused by an increased level of testosterone, that is how we become attracted to certain men. If a man has more testosterone, we (subconsciously) know he will be a better procreator. So, pump it up!

It depends on the female. Some women (I think it's about 75% of women polled in the UK for a top magazine recently) say they are really turned on by the smell of a man's sweat, while some say they are not affected and for others it's a turn off. I don't like the smell at all and turn away from my fiance if I smell it because it makes me gag. Strong pheromones are supposed to attract the opposite sex but it doesn't work for everyone. I don't use perfumes, do use deodorant and my fiance thinks my natural (washed) smell is lovely, but I can get turned on by some of his deodorants. It takes all sorts I suppose.

This is a trick question. Sweat here is incidental. It's the pheromones that are responsible. They are excreted through sweat. Now there comes the matter of timing. Freshly produced sweat does not have an odor. In other wards you do not produce an odor the minute you start to sweat. It takes time for the bacteria to set in and start feeding. I'm positive you have experienced this personally. There is a slightly salty taste to it. Personally (I'm a male) I find something inherently sensual in a glistening body.

It's really a personal preference. Some women see it as sexy, macho. Some see it as too animalistic. One key though, when testosterone levels rise, there is evidence that women can sense another scent that really isn't obvious. It's a subconscious thing that is very subtle. Pheromes. Women have been tested experimentally and have been shown to react to scents that we cannot detect, but are detected by analytical instruments. So perception and reaction is not always on a conscious level, especially when it comes to the mating game.
