"New generation" riders, not the bike/brand. Why are newer riders of the company so wrapped up in themselves? They spend more time parked and admiring themselves in restaurant, coffee shops and grocery store parking lots than they do riding the machines. I've noticed that they will park as close to the doors of a business as possible only to "pose." They will wear all of their leathers and skull caps only to go to the grocery store to buy a gallon of milk, again they will sit, pose and have a smoke before and after buying the milk for junior at home. If they, the newborn "junior zoomies" ride as a group, they will find any excuse to pull over and stand around trying their very best to look "Bad to the Bone." Frankly they look like what they are, fools that have more money than they have riding experience. When will this end??? FTW

You sound cranky. Why are you lamenting this issue on the computer when you could be riding? (Of course, I should be working, but am waiting on paint to dry.)
Ride to Work. Work to Ride!
I suppose you prefer riding as a lone wolf, gauging your speed by how well the wind parts your beard. It almost sounds like you're a wee bit jealous that the other guys have friends and aren't all about being cowboys on iron horses.

Simple answer to this. " To each their own". If they enjoy this and it cuases no problem for others why not let them? I personally would rather be out riding "alone". Humans for the most part are social animals and the bikes are common ground.
As for leathers to the store to buy a gallon of milk. Leathers are safety equipment and should be worn. However I admit that if I am just running to the store for a gallon of milk I am usually to lazy to take the time to put them on. If I am on my way home from a ride and need a gallon of milk I am not gonna go home and take of my leahters before going to get the milk (again becuase I am to lazy).
Parking as close to the doors as possible for me is a safety issue. Last summer I went to have coffee with a friend that I only get to see once every year or two. As we are sitting in the resturant talking I looked out and two young boys with their father standing right by them were climbing all over my bike. Damage to my bike was possible but my main concern was should they tip my bike ( over 600 lbs) on top of one of themselves the dammage to them would not be as easy to fix.
The bad to the bone look is all perception. I have had old ladies cuse me out for taking my 8 year old with me. However every week it seems I am approched by children and adults wanting to look at my ride. The adults want to talk bikes which I will gladly do with them. The children just want a moment on the bike, again I will gladly boost them up on it with their parents permission.
To answer your question, they do it becuase it makes them feel special and as long as they are not cuasing problems for others let them enjoy themselves. I personally will do what I enjoy and that is ride.

The term for these people is "RUB", Rich Urban Biker.
Remember $20,000 and 20,000 miles don't make you a biker.....It makes you a motorcycle enthusiast.
The guys in my club laugh alot about them, but in general I think they are good for motorcycling. They are making it more mainstream and the law is relaxing on patch wearers (somewhat) now that there are so many bikes on the roads.
I say, don't dog a man (or woman) for finally being able to afford a bike that they have wanted their entire life, be happy for them. You don't have to talk or associate with them so they should not bother you. I am a member of an MC and have learned that some of them are good people just trying to have a good time. I do shake my head when I stop at Starbucks before heading out on a breakfast run or a road trip with my club and talk to the guys who are there posing and find out that their ride that morning was just to Starbucks and then they are heading home.
Stay Up!

Is this any different than the sportbike riders that ride wheelies up and down the rode trying to be James Bond.
If it makes them happy why should it matter to you?
I still can't figure out why your type is worried about what everyone else does with there free time.

I wouldn't spend so much time worrying about what other bikers do or don't do to satisfy you. You probably piss off a few bikers without even realizing it. What goes around comes around. If someone rides, even to the coffee shop and back home, he's alright with me, and he should be alright with you, unless you don't even ride.

You sound like another envious, jealous kid looking for any reason to "Dis" Harley's and Harley riders in an attempt to make it O.K. that all you can afford is a Rebel or similar ride.
Be patient, put in some overtime you'll be able to afford a nice bike some day.
Until then ,enjoy riding what you have and try not to be jealous of others, (Negative energy is a waste)

I know what you're saying, it's almost as bad as those kids in their brightly colored {circus like} jump suits parked in front of 7-11 sucking Slurpee's on their way to low paying jobs, who pretend to be sport bike riders.
Did you ever notice there is not a scuff on the knee from dragging or a mark on a peg or pipe from getting low into the corners. I guess they think riding back and forth to McDonald's and school makes them bikers?

With everything that's going on in this screwed-up world and your complaining because someone can afford to do what they enjoy doing. Man, You really need to get a life. Let's get to the real issue! You don't make enough money to do this and your jealous, green with envy. When you grow up, then you'll be able to do this too. So just be patient and all good things will come in time if you work hard and save your money. At least that's what I all ways told my kids, and it's seemed to work for them. Cheer up and don't be so negative, LIFE'S TOO SHORT!!

Who cares?
As long as they're not in the way when I get my gallon of milk.
Real coffee drinkers know that Cumberland Farms and Irving have better coffee anyway.

Because they see the motorcycle as a fashion accessory! Nothing more, nothing less. I hope they will grow out of it and actually get involved in the sport/lifestyle and then they won't have to pose.
