Whenever Americans get awarded something, or do something good they always thank god. Why don't they take responsibility for it themselves?

I think it's funny how they thank God when something good happens, but never mention his name when something bad happens.

coz America is a religious country americans are just being humble when they're awarded or do something good. I'm not American but I think Christianity plays important role in their thankful ways

Beacuse they believe in God and know that yes they can work hard and that they are responsible for their actions but at the end of the day God is the one who rewards their efforts with success/victory. There's absolutely nothing wrong with acknowledging and thanking God.

The USA is actually quite a religious society - whether it be superficial or deep is open to interpretation - and it is still predominantly Christian. It is deemed highly socially acceptable to be a Good Christian - hence thanking God for their good fortune.

We (the Irish) say it too.
But we don't limit the response to when we succeed or get awarded.
If somebody says "it's stopped raining"
the response might well be 'Thank God"
But then you'd have to live here to understand

God is the one who wakes you up every morning believe it or not and if they want to thank him let them why does it bother you? I thank him for everything that comes my way.

I think it just boils down to religious belief, they're a lot more into that over there than in the UK.

Yeah that crap really annoys me. It detracts from personal hard work and achievement and puts it all at the temple of some mythical god.

because its a fashionable thing to do... it makes them look good and stuff. Plus they don't even remember the names of people that helped them get there...
