Your gecko should be fed a variety of live insects. A variety should be offered (not just crickets and grasshoppers) because each insect offers different nutrients. You can also get a powder vitamin substrate to coat the bugs with before you feed.

If you are uncomfortable feeding insects, maybe someone else can do it, because that is what they eat.

Here is a list of insects they should be eating:

Commercial house crickets (Acheta domesticus)
Black field crickets (Gryllus domesticus)
Mealworms (Tenebrio molitor)
Superworms (Zophobas mario)
Silkworms (Bombyx mori)
Locusts (Melanopus spp.)
Cockroaches (Blaberus cranifer, etc...)
Wax worms (Galleria melonella)

Good luck!

I lived on Guam for almost 12 years and we had gecko's running all over the place. They eat bugs. That's it. Flies, Mosquitoes, gnats. Insects that are around the same size as it's stomach. They enjoy warm, balmy places and you shouldn't really handle one too much because the oil from human skin dries theirs out and can kill them. So, if you own one or are keeping one from class, try buying flies or crickets or whatever and letting them free in the containment. My mom used to let them run aroundour house so they would eat all the flies and mosquitoes and it worked.

Crickets are used as a stable diet for many geckos, but they can be fed meal worms too. Also wax worms which adventually turn into moths which can be fed aswel, but only as a treat as these contain a lot of fat.

i don't know if you were using forceps or not, but they really helped me 'cause i don't like touching any kind of bug. =P

you just pick up the mealworm/cricket/whatever gently and put it next to the gecko's face. ours will eat a cricket right from the forceps. Or you can just use it to put crickets in the gecko's cage.

sorry bout this but, mealworms, grubs, and crickets. you can get them at your local pet store. But, the mealworms wiggle, and the grubs are big white and squishy. Sorry if that creeped you out but they will eat them.
