Well, we have this debate in school and i would like to conduct a survey as reference...

Under the Philippine Constitution the Qualifications for becoming a President are as follows:
1. a natural born citizen
2. a registered voter
3. able to read and write
4. at least forty years old on the day of election
5. and a resident of the Philippines for at least ten years immediately preceding such election

if this are the only requirements then if a certain person can meet this qualification He/ She can run for President even if he/she just finished grade school?

Don't you think we should add a new qualification wherein the person running for a Presidential Post should have finish at least 2yrs. in college

hope you could respond to my question
thank you,

Makes sense, but the voters can also exercise their right to select a better qualified person irrespective of the criteria fixed under the constitution.
At times exceptions are there where a less qualified person can be wiser than many qualified people so better keep that provision in the rules.

It looks like you have gotten several answers that are politically biased. If you think about your question logically you will see that the constitution of a country is designed to ensure security. Requiring a president to have a College education means nothing except that they had higher education. And for the rest of those who think Bush is a moron. His IQ is higher than John Kerry's, and he graduated from Yale and Harvard. So there.

2 years in college?! I would hope more. I would hope that the future president of any country would have a strong foundation in true "liberal arts" meaning language, history, science, social studies... And not a degree just because he had a rich daddy, but one earned our of hard work and true knowledge.

When I hear the president of the US speak, (someone whose education in most areas is greatly lacking), my skin crawls. The man has no understanding of most concepts from education, human rights, and international affairs to the environment and moral issues. Look at the problems he has caused not only inside his country, but world wide.

Not hardly. 2 years of art appreciation wouldn't make much difference. If this is your preference, vote that way.

They should be forced to submit to IQ tests.
