This has probably been asked before, but I haven't seen it.

Is it possible for citizens in the border states to file a class action suit against the federal government for failure to protect us from the invasion from the south?

Or does that need to be done on an individual basis by victims of crimes committed by illegals?

You can't sue the federal government for failure to protect you. Even if you're a victim of a crime, you can't sue the federal government (except in limited circumstances when a particular agent acts wilfully against you, but not just for failure to protect). There are special types of immunity that protect the government from such suits.
The best thing you can do is petition your legislators for changes in the immigration and/or enforcement laws you disagree with.

The border states can call out the National Guard any time they want to secure the border.

Although I do like your plan of crime victims suing. Maybe if enough people did that it would motivate the federal government to get off their ***.

Citizens...probably not, since you have to have the government's permission to sue it (no kidding). Your state may be able to file such a motion successfully. Contact your representatives.
