if you agree on everything you can go to the library and they have a book you can copy the paperwork out of. In the end it is about 100 dollars but it is alot cheaper then going to separate lawyers.

I know the feeling, I wanted a devorce for over a year, I went to the court house and find out everything I need to fill out and how much it was going to cost ($363.00) So I had to wait a year, to get the money. Then went down at the begainning of this month, because I finally had the money , and then they asked me if I wanted to make payments.
So, I would go down to you local court house got to the family divison, and tell them that you want to get a divorce and ask them if they do payments. I had to take a parenting couse, which I think everyone has to take nowadays, if you have kids, which costed an extra 30.00. Also, I found out, that if you want the other party served by a cop with the papers, so they can't say they didn't get them. you will have to call the sheriffs department in the county that he lives in and find out how much they charge to serve papers, and what form of payment they take. As for mine it was 20.00 by money order, so you have to get that an take it to the court house when you file the papers.
Well I hope that helps. And I hope you get through this.

Well, you could ask family and friends. You could talk to a lawyer and tell him he can have a percentage of what he can get you in the divorce settlement. You could wait it out. Get comfortable make him feel he has nothing to worry about. And take the money out of the account and pay for it accordingly.

I read your answers so far and a combination of seeking legal aid...free legal aid...and moving forward with your life before, during and after the divorce is the best couse. If there is no change of reconsciliation than move forward as advised.

What I did is I called the local court house and asked them how to file on my own. They had me attend a class for 10.00 to get the papers and to learn how to fill them out. I went to the class and it was an attorney and she explained everything , she gave me all the forms. I filled them out I made a copy I sent them to him and gave him 30 days to get them back to me and when I got them back I took them to the courthouse and filed them. I had a court date 2 weeks later and I was divorced. It cost me $250.00 for filing and court fees.
