I know a lot of people who write left-wing papers, etc. simply because doing otherwise would result in a bad grade. While I do understand the positions behind liberal-thought, I am wondering why university students/professors cast aside the reality that a true socialist system has never been implemented (and is improbable for that matter)

It's not right-wing trivle, most of my professors admit to being left-wing either by adopting labels such as "marxist" or "feminist"

Perhaps Canada has more socialist professors then elsewhere?!

Canada is a little more socialist than the US.

The reason many professors are that way is because they don't live in the real world. They stay in academia where they can talk about a world full of sunshine and butterflies and ignore reality. It's seductive to students cuz in essence, it means you don't have to work hard. You can see it in practice when you look at the negatives of union or gov't workers. The ones who essentially can't get fired. What happens to their work ethic and productivity?

I think this is right wing nonsense. I don't know of any professors who act like the straw man you have set up. More paranoid stereotyping, if you ask me.

I TOTALLY AGREE!!! I can't stand it.... especially that my Mother's side is Cuban.
Seems like they love going on and on about the great life of socialism... The wouldn't last one month living in Cuba.

Probably explains why a lot of multi-millionaires dropped out of college.
