Light Sensors-:
PIR Detectors (Burglar Alarms)
IR Detectors (Stops the door closing if someone walks in a lift)
LDR (light Dependant Resistors) - Use it all manner of electronic circuitry, best example is probably is Automatic Security Lights and even some posh cars use them to automatically switch headlights on.
Solar Panels - Generation of Electricity for Calcualtors, Houses Etc..
Eyes - Sight is very important
Sound Sensors-:
Ultrasonics - Used in Car Alarms. Also in Car Parking Sensors.
Computers - Used in Voice Recognition Software (i.e. Microphones input to Frequency (Spectrum) Analysers)
Ears - All Animals use these regularly (Especially Bats, Dolphins and Whales for echolocation and communication)
