I don't think we should tip at all anywhere!, I think that restaurants should just start paying people what they are worth and stop jerking people around and being cheap then blaming it on a costumer! If Starbucks is supposed to be upscale then they need to pay there people up scaled wages and this applies to any upscale place. Tips from that point of view would be about how much extra you just feel like doing for a person.

I have worked at Starbucks for over two years and we DO NOT expect tips. Yes, the tip jars are on the counter, but we don't expect them. It's just an added bonus. Same at the drive thru window. However, you should look at Starbucks like you would a bar. We are making the espresso drinks just as a bartender makes alcoholic drinks. That's the best way I can think of to explain it.

I'm not sure but the way I think aboyt it is the following... At Starbucks the clients are different from those who got o McDonalds. Beside that, McDonalds has the policy of low prices so everyone will be able to eat there. Oppositly, at Starbucks the are targetting people who want to kind of "show off" so they are expecting someone with more money! I hope to have helped you...

Tipping has gotten out of control. Blimpies and Subway's both have tip jars at the counter. Never tip at these places and never will. I don't drink coffee or whatever else Starbucks sells. I cannot see myself buying 'coffee' for $3.99.

I never tip at Starbucks unless its a huge order. It's considered a cafe therefore there is a place to leave a tip but I think only people that have extra cash really ever leave a tip there.

I don't tip at Starbucks, since I'm usually broke after paying for my overpriced drink...but I notice that at McDonalds, they have little boxes underneath the cash registers where you can donate your change to the Ronald McDonald Charity fund.

Starbucks is classified as high end coffee shop while McDo is cater more of the lower bracket. They assumed that people who come to Starbucks have the extra money.

I don't think we should tip. They get paid minimum wage and I would tip if they got paid what a waiter got paid I think 2.13 an hour. They make coffee the way we order it I don't tip the cooks at McDonald's and they don't expect it.
