Frankly, I was disgusted when I heard they were making yet another Rocky film (like the 1st 4 sequels weren't enough)
Enough with the sequels! Give it up guys!
Hollywood is dead, I think..everything has been done and redone so many times, it's sick..
we need new writers! There's also plenty of books and comics with great stories that they could use
There's a Dragonlance book in the works...; )
i'm still waiting for them to make an Elfquest movie and Sandman or the Watchmen was really cool...

the funny thing is that everyone who talks bad about Rocky Balboa didn't see it...it was a great movie. There are a lot of us out there who grew up with Rocky, and another installment was good not only for nostalgia, but to end the series right.
if you don't like it, don't see it, no big deal.
another funny thing is that a sequel to Rocky, Mad Max, Indiana Jones, or Rambo will probably be better than 95% of the original stuff that Hollywood churns out nowadays.
by the way, I can't wait for LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD

Another possibility.
I've noticed that when the writers go on strike we have a series of years with really lame-o movie quality.
In 2004 there was a major dispute between management and the writers' guild. Producers very probably dusted off all kinds of marginal products and pushed them into production as a power play.
They could produce a product "without" the guild's services...
I am not sure this is what is going on. Maybe someone with more time could research the conection.

this is not a new trend in filmmaking. since it began there have been serials with a new one every year or so, charlie chan, tarzan, flash gordon, etc etc. i love sequels as long as they stay true to the characters. some great examples the harry potter films, the lethal weapon series, the indiana jones movies have all been wonderful, and of course the most successful and long running one of them all james bond. i do agree that rocky looked sad, it looked sad three films ago.

Well, Stallone had to make another Rocky, didn't want to finish off the franchise with Rocky V......it' was horrible. Now it's done.
But I think the ideas have come to a limit, there are so many remakes and sequels (or prequels) coming out, I don't know what to say.

Actually, Rocky Balboa was a pretty good movie. I thought it was a joke at first, but I really enjoyed it. I have no problem with sequels as long as they have an interesting story to tell. If they are simply doing a sequel for the money then I would rather they didn't, but if they have a good script and a good story, why not.

I don't. Sad is when children are abused or someone dies. These are just movies. Obviously there's a market for these movies so try not to go so upset. By the way, there's another Rambo movie coming also.

I don't particularly call that sad, however I do think serieses and sequels do tend to get repetitive. Perhaps the lack of imagination in the movie industry is a bit lamentable.

Sly looked very, very ordinary in this one, depending on angles and lighting. While he was able to pump up the bod a bit his face looked puffy and pasty. I'm scared to see the new Rambo.
