None of these people know what you are going through.
I've kind of stopped talking about this because anything I say would sound ordinary.
I know that the only question in life is "Why?"
No one has ever given me an answer. That's because no one really cares about "Why?" You are so close to me but I'm afraid to hurt you any more. Don't hurt yourself, you ain't alone!
Hope not faith keeps me going. If you can find hope anywhere then cling to it. It's desperate but it works. You have to hope for small things. Try to make them happen. Even if you don't get exactly what you hoped for you start again.
Edit
I did not want to put down all you guys who have tried to help. I just thought that I knew the asker so well that I could be of more help. I apologise to all of you.

What makes you ask this question - if you beleive there is no hope. You have hope left.
What makes you think that if you were to escape from this hell and torture a worser hell and torture do not await you?
When you ask 'why live' you ask because you think you have a choice between life and death. But in death there is no choice. You must live to keep your options open.
The past is gone - everyone is through with that. You have not lived the future yet. When it comes prepare in the present in such a way that it would not be a hell or torture - your present is an oppurtunity to improve your future - not a pillow to weep over spilt milk.

Don't give up. There is always hope.

Life can be Hell. I agree with you there. Life can be cruel & arbitrary & overwhelming, stressful, scary, sometimes seemingly unbearable.

But living is not always a torture. It is not all ugliness & despair. If you let it be, if you focus on the good things, life can sometimes be beautiful, joyful.

Life is a miracle.

You have to love yourself, first of all. Take care of yourself, physically (get enough sleep, eat healthy & exercise. Yes no one wants to hear this but if you take care of your body that's half the battle!) Take care of yourself emotionally. Do things that you enjoy. We all have unpleasant things that we must do (like the job that I hate! etc) but we can take some time in each day for ourselves to do something that we like. Something fun. Love yourself & you will be happy, no matter what happens. Focus on the positive things. Be a good friend to yourself. Practice saying positive affirmations. Read self-help books. They really can help if you absorb what they say & practice it.

Once you love you, then you can love others (friends, family, strangers, the world at large). Love this beautiful planet that we're on. Nature is so beautiful & too many of us have lost contact with it. When I am in the woods it is impossible to be sad. I find trees so comforting. In the winter when I hibernate indoors I can get depressed. I can't wait for the nice weather to go hiking again.

Make the most of this life. Follow your dreams (search your soul to find what you really want & then go for it.) My dreams are what keep me going when the rest of life sucks. (I'm an artist & singer/songwriter. I may not make a living at it but I still do it in my spare time. We all have some hobby or passion that we enjoy. There must be something you like to do. Make time to do it.)

However bleak things look now, I promise you that it will get better. There have been moments I couldn't see any hope & didn't think I could go on. But I did and things got better. The most important change was my attitude. I decided to be happy & to be more kind to myself. It's a struggle. But I'm trying & it's working.

Good luck.
Take care of yourself, my friend.
Talk to someone. Write your feelings down. It's great therapy.
You are not alone. Everyone feels this way sometimes.
Life is hard. But it can still be wonderful, if you let it be...

I take it you're living in a dark place in life? That life has been knocking you down and kicking the $#!T out of you?

Well.... The good news is, life doesn't have to be that way for you. The bad news is that until you are ready to see that, there isn't much I can say to change things for you.

I will tell you I once lived in a dark place. Life seemed a lonely, desolate place with no relief in sight. Daily my own despair and inner rages tore away at me until I felt like there was nothing for me. The only reason I held on to the life I had was out of a sense of duty to others, not for any hope that I would have any joy in my life.

Then, the tides changed. Something happened that changed my world. But that change wasn't really about what happened outside of myself, but happened within.

Find your center, let the storms raging inside you calm, and tend your own inner light. Your perception of the world is only a reflection of what you think. Change your thinking and the world will magically change around you.

Until you can hear and know this, consider the following stories:

- Moving Mind -
Two men were arguing about a flag flapping in the wind. "It's the wind that is really moving," stated the first one. "No, it is the flag that is moving," contended the second. A Zen master, who happened to be walking by, overheard the debate and interrupted them. "Neither the flag nor the wind is moving," he said, "It is MIND that moves."

- It Will Pass -
A student went to his meditation teacher and said, "My meditation is horrible! I feel so distracted, or my legs ache, or I'm constantly falling asleep. It's just horrible!"
"It will pass," the teacher said matter-of-factly.

A week later, the student came back to his teacher. "My meditation is wonderful! I feel so aware, so peaceful, so alive! It's just wonderful!'

"It will pass," the teacher replied matter-of-factly.

Listen.

We've all been there. There is always a time in life that just suckssuckssucks. Getting through it is part of what makes one a stronger person. Once you survive the darker bits of your life everything else seems more worthwhile. There IS hope. There always is. As for finding answers, we're all constantly searching for those as well. It doesn't just come one day. Experiencing this so-called hell is just part of the process in finding them.

Well, you're asking the right question. Stick with that.
Life is suffering but there is an end to suffering. If you really want some answers, and I mean ONLY if your REALLY LOOKING FOR TRUTH, seek out a buddhist teacher. This is what we're all about. May all beings be free of suffering.

well i can answer this...but...uhh....
i have a strange way of looking into things...
but whatever..

thats the way things are designed...its cause and effect...
like water for example...its characteristics is caused by cause and effect...its chemicals and composition and other properties made it that way...

if you really look into it...
life has no flaw..
it is perfect the system is perfect...

your question is just like a questions like

" why do we cast a shadow? " or
" why do humans cry ? "
"why do some kill themselves ?"
"why do we love?"

answer is cause and effect..

try to learn the teachings of buddism :
the Three Universal Characteristics
the four noble truths..and so on..

trust me on this, if you are eager to learn and understand...
this will answer the rest.

why not? if you let yourself live in torture in hell with no hope.. why not try and change so you can live the way you want to live.. there are people in this world that are actually living in hell, with torture, and no hope... they keep on living because they know there has got to be a better way to live..

Everybody goes through up's and down's in this life...it's a learning experience for us all and it build's character.

Just realise that it's not going to last..you WILL come through it if you persevere.

If you have faith of any kind, please remember this: your God does not give you anything that you cannot handle.

It's this belief that keeps me going.
