I think it's because your body has had enough of the savoury stuff so makes you feel full so that you don't eat/want any more, BUT it secretly leaves enough room for something sweet to take that savoury taste out of your mouth !

You are probably young and fit - and burn up the calories. Chips and dessert sound like a disaster. Are you leaving the chips out of guilt so as to leave room for the pudding? Sometimes an icecream or something light can help your digestion and you are supposed to have something sweet after spicy things to help your gut - apparently!

I think my brain knows it will like dessert better than the meal so it unconsciousy tells me not to eat anymore to make room for it! :o) Well, actually, i might do it consciously coz i always check out the dessert menu first!

Well, it's not a matter of greed. It's just that the human body, after a meal, is set on food. There's nothing bad about it- it's a human trait to want more of something you enjoy. If it's a diet situation, you just have to train yourself to eat smaller portions, and soon you'll find you won't be so hungry.

We don't go out to eat very often so when we do it suddenly becomes a must to eat all three courses, because its a special occasion and you don't know when the next time will be, so we make the most of it and then spent the next day eating salads.

I'm very upset - went to my favourite restaurant last night and just couldn't manage dessert even though the raspberry souffle looked amazing!

Don't you know that desert fits into the cracks between the rest of the food you've eaten? Same with coffee.

Why is it that peole just don't start with the dessert first? Then they just may have room for the meal.

Lol im the same, I allways fancy something sweet after a meal and I do it every time. I guess its because Iv had something savoury I then want something sweet.

The craving for sugar is strong. There's always room for Jello.
