In the US there are many days that are bank holidays (and federal government workers such as the Post Office) that are not holidays for the rest of the work force. We know that they get all kinds of days off that are just another Columbus Day Sale for JC Penney! And that's, ok.
It is always surprising though, when you go out to pick up the mail, and there is none, and you have to try really hard to think of what day it is! (Flag Day, Columbus Day, and even the day that former Pres. Gerald Ford died!)

why not? I wouldn't mind having an excuse for a day off (if I worked for someone else). But banks have too many holidays, they're always closed when I need them....

Still, go for it.
