I hate ladders but could not afford to have my house painted for me. I had previously hired a double from the local DIY store but found it very wobbly and hated it. When I eventually bought a ladder to paint the house I got a triple extension ladder which is much more stable and gave me confidence to work at gable level. You can also use this as a double for lower access work such as upstairs window frames.

Each section of my ladder is about 10' , (3m), but as the sections usually overlap each other the ladder feels solid at 2nd storey level.

a double 14/16 rung a 16 will reach above a 2story and gives you somthing to hold onto if you are going onto the roof
ladders are usualy refered to as so many rungs
on a double extention you need to leave 3 rungs covered on the first length nof the ladder for safty reasons

assuming your rooms are about 8 foot floor to ceiling X 2 is 16 foot so you want somthing that extends to 20 foot or so
