he is retired from professional football. but he is still actively involved in football by doing a lot charity and promotional work. no more competitive matches, just friendlies.

He retired, though I have heard they offered hima contract in the MLS. I also heard that he is promoting futsal by playing for the French National Futsal Team.

He retired. There was an MLS team that offered him a contract (most likely to compete w/ the Beckham hype), but he turned it down and is remaining retired.
