You can't generalize like that... I'm a lesbian and I'm very feminine and DON'T dress like a man at all. I usually wear short skirts and dresses, and when I do wear pants they're usually tight lowrider jeans with my thong showing a little. I wear makeup and jewelry, and my hair is long. I LOVE being a girly girl, and yet I am a lesbian.
Sure, there are some lesbians who dress in a more masculine style, but there's nothing wrong with that.

This is more of a psychological question than an inquiry about gay fashion. While there most certainly are lesbians who outright hate and despise malehood (and there are straight women who do to), most women do not and accept men's differences the way we gay and straight men accept their's. But the women who like to dress manly (drag kings) are women who do not feel comfortable with their gender as a women (which is ironic because they are usually the loudest advocates for female equality, etc). What makes things very confusing is that in our society, if a male wears anything even remotely feminine everyone thinks he is gay (or a transvestite), but women dress in men's clothing all the time to a depressing degree and yet no one bats an eye. If I was heterosexual I would be totally turned off by a chick in pants the same way that I, as a gay man, am turned off by a guy in a dress.

That's an easy question to answer.
We don't hate guys. Just don't particulary feel like f*cking them.
To Squiddy- I sometimes date women who wear men's clothes, have short hair etc. and I can assure you that doesn't actually make them men or make dating them like dating a man. Some are more feminine in personality than a lot of the girls who go around in skirts and dresses all the time. Famous example would be Melissa Etheridge. She's looking a bit mannish these days but if you find some interviews and hear her talk she's definitely all woman.

They don't necessarily hate men, they just aren't attracted to men.
And some lesbians dress like men because they identify with the the males than females.

good grief! does everyone believe in generalizing stereotypes? lesbians do not "hate" men, they are simply not sexually attracted to them. I have lots of male friends. and the "dressing like men" comment.....sure, there are some lesbians that are kind of butch....but they are not the majority. and they are still women. and they don't want to "be" a man. do you actually know any lesbian (or gay men)?

Not being sexually attracted to someone does not equal hate at all. For the most part I find people tend to dress in ways that make them the most comfortable.

One of my best friends is a lesbian, and she does not hate men. In fact, she's very friendly towards men.
