The unit is ohms which are the units of resistance which is the inverse of conductivity measured in mhos :-)

If it conducts less the resistance has increased.

Amps. The new wire will conduct less amps and if a fault occurs the wire will not 'blow' so you will likely get a fire in your apparatus or blow it up completely.
