I had a similar problem lately. Cost of the boiler is not the only thing you have to pay. If there are different sections in the house (i.e. upstairs and downstairs) which need to be heated separately at different times, as well as water to be heated at different times then you need zone valves which may have to be replaced together with the boiler. Furthermore, the existing radiators have to be flushed to increase their efficiency with the new radiators (this is not an option but a must with new radiators. Furthermore, from April 2006 by law all radiators installed or renewed must be of "condensing" type. These are more efficient and environmentally friendly as they emit less carbon di-oxide. The cost of the boiler depends on the heat output (e.g. no. of radiators). To give an example of my own experience: I needed to replace a 40 kW ( 100 BTU) (14 radiators of mixed sizes) output boiler. I needed 3 zone valves to be replaced (upstairs, downstairs and water) and all the radiators to be flushed. The quotation I got was £2400 +VAT (we must not forget the VAT) and the cost of the condensing boiler alone was £900+VAT. So the valves, flushing and labour was £1500. If you require less output from your boiler (i.e. less number of radiators) than mine, your cost might be less than mine and with the figures I gave you you can make a rough estimate. I hope this is helpful.

Hi UK plumber here, as stated earlier you don,t give enough info, do the radiators need up grading, how old is the boiler and system. If you fit a new boiler to an old system you would get problems, from silt to pressure dependent on which boiler you have. Is it gravity or combi, oil or gas.....how many rooms and rads, I could go on. To give a price is like some one asking how much would it cost for me to have a fence erected, er how bigs the area.

A combi boiler would be about £ 550/ 700 depending what size boiler you will need.Best bargains are Wickes or B& Q Make sure when you get a boiler you have a fitting kit with it. Some boilers are supplied with a fitting kit as an extra.

few hundred to thousands, depends on what you want and btu, energy efficientcy.
You will also want to look to see if there are temperature adjustments for each room. A boiler can get a small room hot and keep a large room cold without these. It is also wasteful if you don't need a room heated.
Also check for pipes that may cause problems from rust and age when installation is attempted.
Also remember labor charge if your not doing it your self ussually cost as much or more than the product it's self

Boiler vary dramatically depending on what you buy, they range from about £600 up, you would do better asking a fitter for a quote over the phone. Good luck with the housde hunting.

you don't give enough info to get an answer what kind of boiler is there now and is it gas or solid fuel is it wall mounted or floor standing ( if gas £2000 ) fitted if its Combi but you can get a cheaper boiler for £500 and add labour and fittings but don't advise it and the BTUs again governs the price

can be anything from £400-£1000, all depends on how big the house is so how many radiators it will have to heat up. also installation of a boiler can be anything from £300 to £600.

It really depends where you go, some firms will charge a fortune like BG, etc (i.e. big names) but there are some recommended decent firms who charge less because they trade on reputation. I know one such firm, and they even let you pay back over monthly installments too (phew!) - they're called stl heating - I think the site is stlheating.co.uk - don't pay more - ask 'em for a quote !
