It seems that people are coming out of the woodwork to support Hillary for 08. I think this is great. However, I don't want it to be a result of her being female. It would be wonderful for a female to become President, don't get me wrong. However, people need to focus less on race and gender profiles and tune in on who is the better candidate of the few. I do realize that Hillary is incredibly strong and will be an excellent President as will Obama if elected. Lets pick who can benefit us the most, people.

You think Obama will be great? Why is that? He has no power in the Senate, he has done nothing credible, what does he have to offer other than his ability to make a speech? Hillary is a crook and should be in Jail not the white house. This has nothing to do with gender or race.

Picking people based on qualifications rather than race or gender is absolutely a good idea.

I don't see the 2008 election being about either though, regardless of the candidate (and there remains a very good chance that both the GOP and Dem candiates will be straight white men). I suspect that even if Hillary is the candidate, the campaign will be as much about that as JFK's campaign was about him being Catholic; ie it will be a factor at first, but rapidly fade into the background.

It WILL be a gender election in the sense that Senator Clinton's canididacy will bring out a voting block that usually has a low percentage turn out: young single women.

The next guy claims: "Left wingers do not get elected on left wing agendas ..."

I Respond: And Republicans don't get elected on a right wing agenda. You frontrunner is Giulianni (pro-choice, pro-gay rights, supports "reasonable gun regulations" -- as he said on Hannity's show).

Don't worry. Nobody considers Hillary to be a female.

I think it's going to be party affiliation, not gender or race. Democrats in, Republicans out.

Women have run for President in the US, before this.
You are advocating two left wing liberals. Left wingers do not get elected on left wing agendas, in the US, regardless of their race or gender.

Right?
